Directing Your Focus
One day a few months ago I was having a hard day of writing. I just couldn’t get past this one scene. Try as I might, nothing worked. Maybe I tried too hard, maybe not hard enough. Or maybe I was going about it all wrong.
I brought up my dilemma to a few writers groups I’m in. Each of them have lots of people at different stages of writing—new writers and established writers—with different perspectives of looking at things. I received a lot of great ideas, mostly telling me different ways to approach the issue, and you know, it wasn’t anything I didn’t already know, but I needed the direction to help me find out where I needed to go, to find my focus.
No matter what stage you find yourself in writing, or no matter what you do, there are always many people who can help you out with a nudge in the right direction.
